RAPHAELHIRSCH

Hi, I'm Raphael.

Student | History,  Language & Tech Enthusiast

Currently finishing my Double-Subject Bachelor (East Asian Studies | Applied Computer Science) and looking for career opportunities.

About me

Hi, my name is Raphael Hirsch. I'm an undergraduate student at Heidelberg University, currently working on my Double-Subject Bachelor in East Asian Studies and Applied Computer Science. This - admittedly exotic - choice is my attempt at combining three of my biggest interests.

History - Inspired by "Indiana Jones", growing up I wanted to become an archaeologist. And while that dream fated, I still enjoy learning about world and local history. I'm also trying to catch up on a few thousand years of literary history by reading the classics, such as the ancient "Epic of Gilgamesh", the Heian Period novel "Genji Monogatari" and the Icelandic "Njals Saga".

Language - During my school days, I learned how to approach a new language both the incorrect and correct way. The latter, I found out on my own and ever since I'm fascinated with languages and how to learn them. At the moment I'm conversational in German, English and Japanese. Next, I plan to work my way west, learning Korean, Mandarin and Russian.

Technology - Like most people, I've been fascinated with the latest advances in technology and software for a long time. Wanting not only to consume, but also create, I started to delve into learning more tech related skills. Such being Programming in C++ and Java , Software Engineering and most recently  Web Development and Web Design.
